Your Best Workout

You have the formula all mapped out

Step one: Have a goal (check).

Step 2: Game plan to achieve goal (check)

Step 3: And… get stuck in routine. Continue.

What happened to that short burst of inspirational energy that drove you with fiery passion, to not only reach your goal- but to actually destroy and/or annihilate it? Maybe you still have all your goals fixed firmly in mind, but see the need for readjustment. Where do you start… Do you remember your early expectations; are you still on ‘schedule’? Are things going according to plan? Let’s face it, not all of us can work out like Russell Wilson. But not all of us need to.

Newsflash! That extremely focused person? Does not have the same goal as you do. A gym is like an airport. A lot of different people go there, not as a destination but as a means to get somewhere else. Not everyone is going there to visit granny in Sweden, or volunteer as relief aids in Kenya. Similarly, not everyone goes to the gym to: “Get Bikini ready for Summer!” Or train for a triathlon. The point? What motivates the weightlift champion, or the cyclist, is not going to inspire you. And neither will that initial eye-of-the-tiger feeling. So what will?

We at Thrive have started a campaign that will touch on every aspect of a work out, on what yours should and could achieve. Keeping in mind that not every goal is the same, our very own personal trainers will supply loads of advice, ensuring that you enjoy every Thrive-filled second. You’ll be casually Facebook bragging in no time!

To start of series, we will focus on gaining some perspective on being consistent and seeing through your journey at Thrive as a balanced way of life

A plan

Whether you love them or hate them, we all recognize the significance and value of having them, and chances are you are progressing really well against those and have been s.m.a.r.t. about them.

Yet, if you have no idea still about what a smart goal is, and just thinking of it gets you exhausted and feeling like failure already, take courage. If goals are not exactly the way to go for you, you may find this short article by behavioural psychology expert, James Cleary, more insightful and balanced.

In this case, you need to find what works best for you

+ action

Sometimes we ourselves do not know what is needed to keep motivation levels up. The whole concept may be misleading. Waiting for motivation to be a feeling that drives you to action will get you nowhere. No amount of Pinterest memes will get you to your goal. Instead, it should be turned around.  Motivation is dynamic – let action fuel your motivation.

Keeping to your decision, because you made it, will at first prompt momentum, and then results will motivate. And of course you have our amazing trainers, and a diverse class schedule – You just need to get there.

= Progress

Simple. And progress is continued success.

In the following blogs, we will be looking at factors that contribute to a successful workout. Our aim is to assist all our members to map their progress and add value to each and every minute spent with us. The ultimate goal – The best standard of life possible.
